Vintage Masculine Canvas

Hi! It’s Lou here with a masculine vintage canvas board today.

Usually when I do vintage style I go for a very feminine feel, but i wanted to make this very masculine.

I started by using Prima Marketing crackle paste and and stencil AB Studio stencil ID-87 to the left of my canvas board. I coloured the stenciling by watering down  impasto paints in Jade and Colbalt and rolling the board around to spread the colour.

I added some papers from AB Studio’s Behind Closed Doors and Take Me There. I used foam tape to raise them slightly.

I added some cheesecloth to the lower part of the canvas using blue and then covered this in Pitch Black impasto paint. I did this to add texture and to add a darker section to my canvas, drawing inspiration from the door paper I had added previously.

Next, focusing mainly on the black area, I added Finnabair sparks in my favourite colour, Night Shadow. I then sprinkle Fabrika Decoru Magic Paint in Shimmer Amethyst and sprayed with water. Again, I rolled my canvas around to spread the colour and dried.

To add more texture, I used beads and micro beads from Prima and stuck using FD 3D gel

Now I began to build the piece up. I added more of the AB Studio die cuts, Prima moulded pieces and Hobbilicious MDF’s (we will be getting these in soon 🙂 ) The frame contains a Finnabair sticker. The frame was coloured with Deco Art gold paint and to all and the stencilling was added touches of bronze wax. The title was cut from the same AB Studio papers.

And the piece is finished. Here is the final shot and some close ups.
