Whilst making a previous project, I had a stencil with quite a bit of spare Prima Marketing crackle paste left on it so pressed it onto a label wooden square that came in a delivery of mine. I thought this would make a good project at some point.
Today was the day to make this into something pretty. I decided to try and use up some stash. I began by covering the whole piece in Prima Marketing clear gesso. I chose clear as I wanted to keep a bit of the wood look as I liked the surface and colour.
Next I chose some inks to add colour. I had some Jane Davenport inks in my stash I wanted to make use of. I dried this then added flicks of green chalk ink by Fabrika decoru for a bit of contrast.
To blend the piece together and add some more contrast, I used Fabrika Decour Heather shabby velour paint and Snow White Finnabair impasto paint. To finish the colour, I added some Shimmers raspberry paste from my stash around the edge using a palette knife to add texture.
Now I began work on my layout. I started by adding some stamping, using Finnabair Don’t Forget to fly stamps, in white ink and in Versafine Clair Nocturne for contrast. Next I chose some die cuts. I took some old 7 Dots Studio elements and AB Studio (white butterfly sheet and the Diary range ) and Prima Marketing Moon Child fussy cut elements.
To finish, I added some Finnabair glass beads using 3D gel and dots of pink paint.
Here are some close ups for you. I hope you like it and think about using the pastes, inks etc left on your stencils for 2nd projects.
