Moments in Time – Art Journal

  •  Art Journal –  Moments in Time
another design for Thompsons craft supplies

for this project i used…..

AB studio craft bundle 2 papers

fabrika Decoru metallic spray- sepia and gold

color glow – ruby

idea ology – vintage photobooth

i also used the stencil from the retreat kits.

from my stash i used…… black gesso, whits gesso, clear gesso and heavy paste.

firstly i painted my pages with the black gesso, i then lightly went over with the white.

i then fussy cut the black and white flowers and stuck them down with 3d gel and then stencilled on with the paste that i coloured with brow paint, it came out more of a pink!

i then fussy cut from the other sheets in the paper pack and layered them up using 3d foam pads and 3d gel.

lastly i painted over all the paper elements with the clear gesso, it just adds a bit of strength to the papers.

Sweet Home: Art Journal spread with Mintay Day by Day – Grace

This week I’ve created this art journal spread in the front pages of my P13 A5 Art Journal. I’m using this art journal for creating pages relating to…well, this very weird year we’re having! I thought this spread with the front door would be a great ‘opener’ for the journal.

To see how it came together you can watch the process video here:

Create what’s important art journal page

this time a journal double spread.
Create whats important..
for this project i used…..
Pentart wax purple
13 arts color glow Tanzanite
Ab studio stencil ID94
Ab studio paper Diva
Dina Wakley paint Heather.
for this project i got covered in ink again lol
i prepared my page with clear gesso to start and dried it
i then dotted some of the heather paint on the pages and with a sponge spread it about, not solid just dragging it around, i then  dropped some of the color glow on the glass mat, added water to activate and sponged this on too.
when dry i then added some paste through my stencil and dried again.
i then added a little bit of stamping, just randomly all over.
then it was fussy cutting and layering.
deciding on my title.
then i bordered with the wax and some black ink.
to finish i activated the color glow again and splattered.

A Great Adventure- Journal Layout.

A Great Adventure, journal layout

i always seam to do double layouts in my journals, i cant seam to get my head around having two different things on opposite pages lol but i’m not bothered i love working the doubles.
using some of my  June DT kit from Thompsons Craft supplies
i also used some cardboard from a box, some hand made stamps, some stamped and aged circles , some washi tape and some gesso.
i cut  out some of the paper to fit the right hand side of my double layout and then tore round the edges,
with what  was left , 2 pieces from the side and bottom, i tore round them and turned them sideways and glued to the other page,  so both of my pages were covered i then added some washi tape and the torn off pieces from my main sheet to add the next layer.
i then scraped some white gesso over the pages to soften it down.
when it was dry i then added the Ocean paint using my finger, just here and there.
i chose my dragonfly and butterfly and sponged with the ocean paint.
i splattered with some black watercolour paint
i then layered up my card, stamps, butterfly tracing paper, distressed circle and butterfly/dragonfly, working both sides at the same time.
lastly i found my title , mounted onto some card then added them to my layout and using a journalling pen i framed the title and both the pages but not down the centre.

Mintay Harmony Art Journaling – Grace

This week I have an art journal project to share that I had made with my previous kit, featuring the Mintay Harmony paper pad.

The full process can be swatched on my YouTube channel here:

My favourite element of this project is the stencilling that I did with three different mediums, Prima Paper Paste, and two different colours of Nuvo Embellishment Mousse; I really love the effect of the different mediums and colours blending together using one stencil.

Here is my product list:

Mintay Harmony

AB Studio Rice Paper Vintage Flowers

Friday 13th Art Journal

Prima Flowers and Stencil Set

Fabrika Decoru Chameleon Paint Electric

Fabrika Decoru Chameleon Paint Moonstone

Gothic Art Journal Pages – Grace

This week I’ve created this gothic inspired art journal spread – the 13 Arts Victoriana Paper Pack I’ve been working with these past few weeks has a very gothic vibe, which is a style I love, but I was yet to do a project with that aesthetic.

To see how the pages were created, you can watch the process video here:

These are the products I used:

One of my favourite elements is the pieces of the cover page from the Victoriana Paper Pack, which I used as tissue/decoupage paper to collage different patterns on to my pages. This is why I never throw away anything, you can find a use for all sorts of things!

Now is the Right Time Mixed Media Page – Grace

This week I have created a fun mixed media project using some AB Studio packaging as my base (I always keep stuff like that, you never know when it’ll come in useful or inspire you!)

The part that says ‘be creative every day’ is part of the packaging – so I stuck some cheap (read: not very sticky) washi tape over it while I worked on the rest of the project, so that when I was nearly done I could peel the tape off and still have the phrase showing.

I love the way the project is built up over the phrase, rather than being on top (as words and phrases are usually one of the last things you add). It’s definitely a technique I’ll try again in the future.

The full process for this project can be watched in an accompanying video on my YouTube channel here.
