Easy Christmas Tree Layout with Prima Christmas in the Country

Hello! Grace here with another Christmassy scrapbook layout. I’ve seen so many layouts out there on YouTube and Instagram that have a Christmas tree shape as the main element on their page, but it’s usually a cut file – which, personally, I can’t always be bothered to do that, and also, not everyone has access to an electronic cutting machine. So, I wanted to create something with that shape but that was also really, really easy to make.

So I used the ‘Most Wonderful Time of the Year’ paper from Prima ‘Christmas in the Country’, and cut it into five strips. I then cut those strips into five different lengths to make the basic pyramid style tree shape.

I went round the edges of all the strips with Distress Oxide in Candied Apple, and after sticking them down in overlapping layers, went around the whole shape with my sewing machine. But before that, I added a light bit of gold stencilling and some gold splatters to the background so they’d poke out from behind the shape.

After backing my photos with woodgrain patterned, and then glitter card, and adhering them with foam so they’d stand out, very little embellishing was needed.

I simply added a few Prima flowers, ephemera piece, and a Hobbilicious wooden star at the top of the tree.

Lastly I added some Prima Say it in Crystals, and some Nuvo Drops, and the layout was complete! If you’d like to see the full process you can watch the video here.

Prima Christmas in the Country Layout

Hello, Grace here. I’m here with my first project with my December kit, using mostly the Prima Christmas in the Country collection.

This layout was a really quick one to put together, thanks to beautiful embellishments available in store such as the Prima flowers and hobbilicious chipboard.

I painted the chipboard banner and stars with Fabrika Decoru Antique Gold paint. While they were drying I backed my photo, adding Distress Oxide in Aged Mahogany around the edges, and added splatters of Antique Linen and gold.

I added flowers, puffy stickers, and Christmassy sentiments and stickers around the photo, and finished with some journaling in the bottom right corner, and some Honey Gold Nuvo Drops.

Snowy Wintery Layout – Grace

I’m here this week with my last project with my November kit. I created this very wintery and snowy layout featuring my cat in the snow.

Using AB Studio Secret Wood, I chose this snowy paper, but added a light layer of white gesso over a large area in the middle so the pattern would be toned down for where I added my photo and embellishments.

I added stencilling with Prima Paper Paste and an AB Studio Stencil, then snowflake stencilling with embellishment mousse. Then I added splatters of watered down gesso, and watered down Fabrika Decoru Metallic Silver Paint.

I used lots of ripped pieces of patterned paper, and a scrap of tulle to back my photo, going round the edges of everything with Distress Oxide in Tumbled Glass. The embellishments are a mix of fussy cut flowers from the AB paper pack, painted with silver watercolour, and some snowflake ephemera from my stash. The words are from the Time Holtz Christmas Clippings.

I finished with adhesive pearls and Nuvo drops in three silver/white colours, then added my title of ‘nope’ (because that is what it looks like my cat is saying to the snow!). The alphas I used were quite a strong blue and weren’t quite right for the layout, so I stippled a light layer of white gesso over them to tone the colour down and also add a snowy effect.

Winter Mixed Media Deer Decoration – Grace

Hi everyone! This week for my DT project I’ve worked with this MDF Reindeer/Deer Decoration that was in my kit.

I wanted to make it into a really wintery and snowy looking project, rather than just Christmassy, so I’ve used lots of white, blue, silver, and sparkly/pearlescent elements.

I covered the whole piece in heavy gesso to start, then added my stencilling with Prima Paper Paste. Once that was dry I added mint and turquoise pearlescent and metallic paints – the turquoise paint is by Fabrika Decoru.

I used Fabrika Decoru Metallic Silver paint around the edges and to add silver accents later on top of the embellishments. Around the edges of embellishment clusters and around the antlers I also added Glass Bead Paste, adding extra Glass Beads by Prima, to look like clusters of fallen snow.

The flowers are from my kit, and are available in flower bundles from the store. Other embellishments are from my stash, though I’m fairly sure most of them came from previous kits!

To see the full process, you can watch my YouTube video here. I’m also going to be selling this, and other mixed media items, in my Etsy store, with 100% of proceeds going to Shona’s fund, which you can read about here.

Frosty Fox Layout with AB Secret Wood – Grace

This week I’ve made a frosty wintery layout with AB Studio Secret Wood.

We have twin foxes (this year’s babies) who come into our garden, and I have a few pictures of them I’ve been meaning to scrap – as soon as I saw the fussy-cutable fox elements in this paper pack I knew it was my chance!

I added stencilling with an AB studio stencil and Prima Paper Texture paste, plus some snowflake stencils from my stash and glitter and glass bead pastes. Then to add some of my own colour to the background, I watered down some Distress Oxide ink in tumbled glass and splattered over the layout with a paintbrush, then also added Distress Oxide Spray in Mermaid Lagoon, Fabrika Decoru Chalk Spray in Pink, and some watered down gesso.

The embellishments are either fussy cut from the paper pack, or from flower bundles from the store. I also used 3D Gloss Gel to add Prima Glass beads between the embellishments, then lightly dabbed Fabrika Decoru Silver Metallic paint on those and on some of the other embellishments for a frosty effect.

Mixed Media Cards – Grace

This week I was in need of some cards to send to people, and it’s been ages since I’ve made any mixed media cards – so I thought why not use my beautiful design team kit to make some?

I based the designs around the 13 Arts Summer Rhapsody paper pad, and used lots of goodies from my kit, and from previous kits, to create the backgrounds and to embellish.

For the background I used Fabrika Decoru Shabby Velour Paint, and Fabrika Decoru Chameleon Paint. I also added splatters with Fabrika Decoru Chalk Spray, and Distress Oxide Spray in Victorian Velvet.

The fabrics, trim,  and flowers are all available in kits – fabrics and trim as part of lucky dip kits, and flowers as part of the flower mixes available in the store.

To see the full process of how I made these, you can watch the accompanying YouTube video here.

13Arts Summer Rhapsody Layout – Grace

This week I have my first project with my October kit – if you’d like to see what items I got, you can watch the kit share video here.

I created this shabby style layout using the 13Arts Summer Rhapsody paper pack, Maremi’s Small Art Stencil, and Fabrika Decoru Chalk Paste.

The ephemera/embellishments are from my stash – I mostly chose black and white, and pink items to match the theme of the background paper. The stencilling was done with Embellishment mousse and Prima Paper Paste. I also added Distress Oxide in Worn Lipstick to the background with the packaging technique.

I added lots of tiny word/phrase stickers, splatters, and black and white sequins for the final details. And finished off with my title, which is from the Cocoa Vanilla Unforgettable collection.

Butterfly Scrapbook Layout – Grace

This week I’ve created a pretty floral scrapbook layout with the Piatek Trzynastego Hello Beautiful paper pad.

The majority of embellishments were fussy cut from the paper pad itself, but before I added those, I added some mixed media to my background. I used Vicki Boutin Stencils, Prima Paper Paste, Distress Oxide Spray in Victorian Velvet, and Lindy’s Starburst Spray in Saltwater Taffy. I also added the floral stamps in the background, which are from my personal stash.

The photo is backed with a scrap of paper from the same paper pad. Next I added the gold glitter title, some phrase/quote stickers, and then LOTS of splatters and Nuvo Drops.

Fly Away Art Journal Page – Grace

How are we all liking the shiny new website?! I for one love it! This week I’ve created an Art Journal page with my September Design Team kit – if you’d like to watch the video share, you can find it on my YouTube channel here.

I used the Fabric Decoru Shabby Velour paint, and some black gesso to create the stripes. Then Prima Paper Paste for the stencilling.

I chose a paper from the Hello Beautiful paper pad, and ripped around the flowers (I thought it would look more ‘natural’ than fussy cutting them), and then stamped and embossed the AB Studio bird stamp on the same paper.

As I glued down the paper elements (with Prima 3D gloss gel), I bundled up gold metallic thread and placed it partially under the papers. I also added small sections of the black leaf ribbon.

The acetate doilies, bright pink flowers, and pink leaves are all from my stash (though the pink leaves were from a previous kit). I added the ‘fly away’ title with the Thickers from my kit, and finished off with lots of splatters in pink, black, and white.

To see the process in full, you can watch the video on my YouTube channel.
