Louise here with a piece of wall art today.

I recently met with the ladies at Hobilicious  and they kindly gave me some lovely pieces to work with. One was a soon to be released piece, these 3 wooden style panels. I began by adding cheesecloth, some netting and a piece of lace using Fabrika Decoru matte medium

I coated this in FD black gesso

I also black gessoed some metals, some Prima moulded pieces and a layered moon piece from Hobilicious.

Here’s a close up on the texture once painted.

All my items were stuck to the main part using FD 3D gel.

With this piece I wanted to create the sense of light and dark as if it were a night sky lighted by the stars and moon.

To achieve this, I firstly lightened the moon piece, stars and areas around it with FD white gesso.

I then wanted to add some colour to the sky a bit. I used some FD watered down magic paints and Prima Impasto paints

I coated all the moon cluster, stars and wigs in Prima Sparks paint in Unicorn. They are super pigmented and sparkly. For an extra bit of shine, I mixed some iridescent prima mica powder into the FD matte medium and brushed it over some areas.

To finish, I painted a wooden ‘explore’ embellishment in black gesso and dried, and then embossed with a purple iridescent embossing powder. I lifted this off the background by adding to a piece of paper coated in the same sparks paint. I added some Prima melange pebbles to again imitate stars or the such like.

Here is the finished piece and some close ups. I hope you’ll give this light and dark method a try.

Snowy Wintery Layout – Grace

I’m here this week with my last project with my November kit. I created this very wintery and snowy layout featuring my cat in the snow.

Using AB Studio Secret Wood, I chose this snowy paper, but added a light layer of white gesso over a large area in the middle so the pattern would be toned down for where I added my photo and embellishments.

I added stencilling with Prima Paper Paste and an AB Studio Stencil, then snowflake stencilling with embellishment mousse. Then I added splatters of watered down gesso, and watered down Fabrika Decoru Metallic Silver Paint.

I used lots of ripped pieces of patterned paper, and a scrap of tulle to back my photo, going round the edges of everything with Distress Oxide in Tumbled Glass. The embellishments are a mix of fussy cut flowers from the AB paper pack, painted with silver watercolour, and some snowflake ephemera from my stash. The words are from the Time Holtz Christmas Clippings.

I finished with adhesive pearls and Nuvo drops in three silver/white colours, then added my title of ‘nope’ (because that is what it looks like my cat is saying to the snow!). The alphas I used were quite a strong blue and weren’t quite right for the layout, so I stippled a light layer of white gesso over them to tone the colour down and also add a snowy effect.

Behind Closed Doors

Hi it’s Louise here and today I have for you an altered Woodouts window

In preparation, I thickly applied crackle paste to the window and left overnight to dry naturally so as to produce the best cracks. I wanted to go with this paste to create an aged look.

The next day I began by addings some watered down Finnabair sparks paint in Raven over the cracks. This helped to darken and age the piece and add some shimmer.

To continue wth this aging process, I added Finnabair impasto paint in colour burlap

This is also a contrast to the first paint as is a matte, flat colour rather than the sparkle, shiny first paint.

For a little finishing touch to the surface, with my finger I added some Finnabair wax in old denim. I applied it very lightly and buffed onto the wood to make it shine more.

I chose a door paper from AB Studio’s Behind Closed Doors range. I drew roughly around the window and cut it out and added to the back of my frame using Fabrika Decoru 3D Gel

From the same AB Studio range and a few other or their sheets, I fussy cut lots of elements. I stuck these to the frame in a diagonal shape.  I added some chipboard to the back of some to create some dimension and layers. I also added a Tim Holtz baseboard doll.

Overnight again, I prepared some moulded pieces using Prima Marketing moulds and modeling material. Leave these to dry about 24 hrs. About 1hr into the drying you may wish to press the pieces down flat again as they slight shrink and curve as they dry

These were then coated with Prima Marketing black gesso and dried. Sparks paint in night shadow was lightly added. Then wax in heather hills to give a subtle shimmer to the moulded pieces.

I had some wonderful metal handles I picked up at a car boot sale. These looked great on the window so I added one to it using Prima heavy body gel

I added my moulded pieces along with a few metal piece. I glued these on with the Fabrika 3d gel.I also added the ‘behind closed door’ phrases from the AB Studio paper onto some foam dots. I went over the wording with  black liquid pen to help it stand out  a bit more.

I added as a finishing touch, some micro beads in copper using a soft gel medium.

I really love the finished look of this and this window just has so many possibility as do all the Woodouts pieces. I really recommend checking them out.

Mini Vintage Canvas

Hi everybody,
It is Kasia here with another project. This month I am using many beautiful products from Louise’s shop.
This is my mini vintage canvas…
Here are steps:
1. I was going to use Maremi’s stencil on my background but…
2. Firstly I decided to add some texture using gauze on the background, I adhered it using white gesso.
3. When dried, I stamped randomly finnabair stamp and used stencil on top.

You will need texture paste to do.
4. I decided to use a mdf  butterfly from Fabrika Decoru, you need to add a layer of white gesso

5.i added some two types of lace ; I used gel medium to adhere all my embellishments

6. I lifted up gessoed butterfly but using a piece of cardboard.

7. Started building my layers, usingd tags from AB studio paper pad- behind closed door

8.added some paper and metals cogs

9. Finally I added a colour, I used antique gold paint from Fabrika Decoru, the green shade appeared by itself, I didn’t expect that but I liked it.
After I added some shading around embellishments using a black spray with a brush.
White splatters to finish it off… and sentiment of course..

Hope you like it as much as me…See you soon with another project,
Kasia x
