Spread Your Wings-Mixed media layout.

Spread your Wings mixed media layout using lots of paste to make the texture and lots of colour.

I used my Design team kit from Thompsons craft supplies.
the products i used are all from Louise at Thompsons craft supplies
i used the Hobbilicious wings mdf
Hobbilicious dress form mdf
the Ab Studio flower stencil
fabrika decoru chalk spray gentle beige
shabby velour paint, pink
AB studio papers somewhere
from my stash i also used a brick wall stencil, acrylic flowers, heavy body paste, mixed media spray inks, finnabair wax in rose gold and gold.
my back ground is an off cut of MDF that my other half trimmed and added a small border to, i don’t like to throw anything away !!
i really enjoyed creating the texture on this project, using my stencil and paste on the wings and dress form.
for the the background i tore my papers and using gel medium added them to my background, i then overlapped with my brickwork stencil and paste and a roman numerals stencil, randomly over my project, when this was dry i painted over with a clear gesso, also doing my dress form and wings.
i then placed my dress form and wings, using off cuts of mdf as packing behind to lift off off my background to add depth, i added cheesecloth behind, i worked to one side so that one wing went off the side of my back ground.
i raided my stash to find a mix off metal, acrylic and mdf flowers and other bits and pieces to decorate and add texture, using gel medium to fix down, i then painted with a gesso so that i can then add colour to them.
when all was dry and secure i started playing with colour, adding ink and water to my background and my flowers and other bits and pieces and moving the colours around, the clear gesso allows the colours to move and not sink in.
drying as i went i added more colours.
just playing with colour until i was happy.
i then added some dry brushed paint to my dress form and wings and then some wax all over using my finger to gently pick up the textures and highlight them.

Treasure the Moment

Hi Lorna here.

  1. Ah my first page in a while and just paper apart from a bit of lace and a bramble fox title.

The papers are 13arts vintage summer.

I used a leaf stencil and freyed burlap distress ink on my base cardstock.

I fussy cut one of the sheets for the flowers, but as borders rather than individually and layered with my photo.

I cut and distressed the papers and layered using foam pads and gel medium.

Finally, i tucked in some lace , added my title and finished with some splattering…..as ya do lol

Wooden Advent

Lorna here with a Christmas home decor piece.
Firstly i painted my wooden drawer set with white paint. I then used the Mintay Papers Home For Christmas papers to cover the drawer fronts. I cut the shape then distressed the edges of the papers with my scissors.
I did some fussy cutting from the paper set and used 3d foam pads and gel paste as my glue. I found lots of old alphabets and used the left over numbers for my drawer numbers, painted red, white and gold.
When i had finished my drawers i then wrapped the whole thing with some wide ribbon and made a lovely big bow for the top, then added Prima Marketing flowers to make a lovely floral and ribbon arrangement on the top.

Christmas Star

Lorna here today using:
. creative embellishments holly wreath
. cheesecloth
firstly i gesso’d the edges of my star, i cut out my backing paper making it slightly smaller than the star , i distressed the edges with scissors, then using a journaling pen and the rustic paint (ruby) also using the ruby i stenciled on the stars onto my backing paper.
i painted my wreath with the rustic paint , placed some cheesecloth in a circle on the star then mounted the wreath using 3d foam pads and gel paste as my glue.
i then did a lot of fussy cutting from the home for Christmas element sheet that comes withing the paper pack, this was all mounted to create height using 3d foam pads and gel paste, all overlapping, i then added my title which is from the Tim Holtz idiology chipboard Christmas quote chips.
i added some ribbon to add a bit more texture and as a hanger.
lastly i mixed some white paint with a little water and splattered.

Christmas Tag

Lorna here with my first christmas mixed media project for this year
firstly i gessoed my MDF tag with white gesso and when dry, I used the tree stencil and clear 3D gel with glitter through the stencil to create my back ground. I quickly gave that a dry and then played with the oxide ink sprays by spraying water and moving the ink around to add the colour to my back ground and again I dried it .
From the Mintay Papers pad, Home for Christmas I did some fussy cutting from the element sheet. I used 3d foam pads and  the 3D gel medium to add my cut pieces with some height .
I added my chipboard title from Tim Holtz again using the 3d foam pads and 3D gel medium to fix in place.
lastly i covered my titles and using the white gesso mixed with water, I splattered a little.
I finished the tag with a pretty ribbon.
Here are some close ups.

Rusty Pumpkin

Today a bit of a different layout –  I am playing with clay and paint on my page

I made the pumpkins, leaves and acorns from clay and then painted them. You could try this paper clay

or modeling material from Prima Marketing to make your own.

On the base of the page, which is from the grungy wall set by 13arts , i used a mixed media circle stencil from Studio Light and heavy body paste.

I mounted my photo onto some of the cork sheet from my recent kit, which you can request in the lucky dip bags. I then tore another sheet from the paper range a big bigger than my photo and mounted it.

The photo mat was mounted using 3d foam gel and 3d gel glue to give them a bit of height off the page.

I then arranged my pumpkins, acorns and leaves on the page, mixing in some paper leaves and metal leaves from Prima marketing as well, all using the 3d gel medium.

I took my title from a Tim Holtz phrase book (we have a few different ones in store) and mounted them onto card and arranged using 3d foam pads. I covered my title and photo and then splattered using some watered down bronze Prima Metallique paint. The paint can also be requested in the lucky dip kits and found in the Vintage Romance kit

I hope you like my project and see you again soon. Here are some close ups.

Autumn Layout

All the products i used are available from Thompsons craft supplies.

Using the 13arts grungy wall papers-Damaged for my back ground.

I toyed with adding to to it but the paper was so nice on its own it had everything it needed so i decided to leave it alone.

I added some of the cork, a bit to mount my photo on one corner and then a torn piece as my base.

I used another paper from the 13arts paper range this time from the Summer Rhapsody set– Rose rhapsody, i fussy cut some of the roses, they matched my back ground sheet perfectly.

I added some mdf leaves and my title from the creative embellishments range also from Louise, all painted in Fabrika Decoru shabby velour paints in vintage green, i inked the title a little with black.

I layered all my pieces around my photo using 3d foam pads and 3d gel and then added some paper flowers and some sequins here and there around my central design.

Lastly i splattered using watered down prima metallique paint-steampunk copper, i covered my photo while i did my splattering.
