Winter Mixed Media Deer Decoration – Grace

Hi everyone! This week for my DT project I’ve worked with this MDF Reindeer/Deer Decoration that was in my kit.

I wanted to make it into a really wintery and snowy looking project, rather than just Christmassy, so I’ve used lots of white, blue, silver, and sparkly/pearlescent elements.

I covered the whole piece in heavy gesso to start, then added my stencilling with Prima Paper Paste. Once that was dry I added mint and turquoise pearlescent and metallic paints – the turquoise paint is by Fabrika Decoru.

I used Fabrika Decoru Metallic Silver paint around the edges and to add silver accents later on top of the embellishments. Around the edges of embellishment clusters and around the antlers I also added Glass Bead Paste, adding extra Glass Beads by Prima, to look like clusters of fallen snow.

The flowers are from my kit, and are available in flower bundles from the store. Other embellishments are from my stash, though I’m fairly sure most of them came from previous kits!

To see the full process, you can watch my YouTube video here. I’m also going to be selling this, and other mixed media items, in my Etsy store, with 100% of proceeds going to Shona’s fund, which you can read about here.

Oh Christmas Tree

Hello Everybody, Today I am sharing my Christmas project.

The Christmas tree base from Woodouts is a very thick mdf that is great for all sort of mixed media projects.I covered the based with one of the papers from AB studio Christmas Collection -Breeze of the Forest. All paper elements are fussy cuts from one of the paper from the same paper pad by AB studio

I distressed the edges with oxide -old paper. I use prima flourish mould as a base to build my focal point.

I added some paper flower and little girl embellishment from Tim Holtz.

I used gold wax to add some more dimension to mould and mdf itself. Finally black splatters and chipboard and paper sentiments completed the project.

Hope you enjoy my Christmas tree project and I will come back with some more very soon… Crafty Hugs, KASIA

Halloween is Coming…

Halloween is coming……..love this time of year, the colours are amazing, and i get very excited about Halloween, I’m a big kid at at heart!!

So this month I get to play with Halloween products…..oh and its all amazing.

What to make?…… well……

The Apothecary

Using a dinky mdf upright from Thompson’s Craft Supplies,

I added some brick work using heavy duty paste on the back and the flat of the stand and when dry I painted and inked the brickwork until I was happy with the colour.

I then fussy cut lots of bottles and other ephemera from the papers I had in my kit …………

I inked them to dull the white a bit.

I then layered using 3d foam pads and 3d gel , I layered them up, I also added some cheese cloth rto the back ground that I had coloured.

I used the purple wired ribbon to make a curtain.

I added the title using gel to make it stand up and using 3d gel I added the art grit, when all was dry I splattered.
