Victoriana Layout – Grace

This week I’ve made a scrapbook layout with the gorgeous Victoriana papers from 13Arts. If you haven’t yet seen what I received in my Design Team kit this month, then you can watch the video share here.

I chose the beautiful ‘Circle of Time’ paper for my base, and wanted to follow the shape of the wreath on the paper for my composition. I first added a layer of clear gesso over the paper, then added stamping and embossing in the background with a 49 & Market Stamp, Finnabair Stamp, and Lindy’s Embossing Powder. Then added stencilling with a Maremi Small Art Stencil, and the Fabrika Decoru stencil from my kit.

While waiting for the stencilling to dry (I had used a crackle paste that needs to dry naturally rather than with a heat tool), I fussy cut some elements from the paper pack, from the 13 Arts Wings Acetate, and used some stamps from my stash, such as the Finnabair Don’t Forget to Fly set, to stamp and fussy cut more embellishments. I added colour to both the background of the layout and the stamped elements with Fabrika Decoru Magic Paint in Red Wine.

From here I assembled all the elements of the layout – to be honest, I was really unhappy with it until almost the very end, when I was adding some gold ink splatters, and decided to brush the gold ink onto all my embellishments. This made them all tie together beautifully and gave the whole layout some unity. I also added red and white splatters, making sure to dry in between inks so they didn’t blend together and make pink!

There are many elements on this page, so the best way to see it come together is by watching my process video here.

Mintay Harmony Layout and Video – Grace

This week I’ve done some more scrapbooking with the Mintay Papers Harmony paper pack. As many of us are in isolation or lockdown I’ve decided to make this week’s video a real-time one, so you can craft along with me, or simply have a longer video to enjoy. You can watch the video on my YouTube channel here.

There’s lots of fussy cutting in this project, with elements from both the Harmony set and the AB Studio Crafter’s Bundle.

I also used some bits and pieces from my stash, but here’s a list of other items I used that you can find in the store:

Prima Flowers and Stencil Set

Distress Oxide Chipped Sapphire

Distress Oxide Stormy Sky

Prima 3D Gloss Gel Medium

Mintay Harmony Layout – Grace

Hi! Grace here with a project with the gorgeous Harmony paper pack from Mintay Papers.

I had recently got a copy of this really special picture of my Grandad in the Navy in WW2 (he’s on the far left), and I thought the suitcase and camera motifs in this collection would work well with with this photo, as well as the colours going with the classic sepia tone in the picture.

I added background stamping and embossing. I was particularly please with the copper embossed handwriting stamp on the blue door, the colours are so perfect together and make you think about writing home from far away.

I also brought in the AB Studio Crafters Bundle to add more embellishments to this layout, I thought the postcards looked particularly suited, so I used them to frame/back the photo.

I couldn’t think of any title for this layout, and I’m firmly of the belief that not all scrapbook layouts need a title,  but I did want some words on the page, so I added a few (vaguely relevant!) Tim Holtz Clippings Stickers. The layout was finished with splatters in copper and brass, and then Copper Nuvo Drops.

Treasure the Moment

Hi Lorna here.

  1. Ah my first page in a while and just paper apart from a bit of lace and a bramble fox title.

The papers are 13arts vintage summer.

I used a leaf stencil and freyed burlap distress ink on my base cardstock.

I fussy cut one of the sheets for the flowers, but as borders rather than individually and layered with my photo.

I cut and distressed the papers and layered using foam pads and gel medium.

Finally, i tucked in some lace , added my title and finished with some splattering… ya do lol

Shabby Love Symphony Layout – Grace

Happy New Year! (bit late, but this is my first post of the year!). For February I’m working with the AB Studio Shabby Love Symphony papers, to see the paper pack in detail and all the other lovely items I got in my Feb DT kit, you can watch the video share here.

For my first project I’ve created this scrapbook layout, featuring lots of fussy cutting.

Before adding my photo and the fussy cut elements, I added a light amount of mixed media to the background. I lightly sprayed Distress Oxide Spray in Spun Sugar, added splatters of Fabrika Decoru Chalk Spray in Blue Shabby, and then some stencilling with Dusty Rose Impasto Paint with a 13 Arts Rose stencil. While the Impasto was still wet I sprinted on some Prima Glass Glitter in Gold Rush for some added sparkle!

All the fussy cut elements are from the paper pack, and I arranged them around the photo in the same way the flower pattern was already on the paper. Some were added with foam tape and some adhered straight onto the paper for different layers of dimension.

Around the fussy cut pieces I added Distress Oxides in Victorian Velvet and Bundled Sage. One all the elements were in place I added adhesive pearls, gems, and then nuvo drops to fill in any gaps.

For my title I used some stickers from my stash, and used these tags from another cut-apart/fussy cutting sheet from the AB Studio papers to back them. Again going around the edges with Oxides.

I finished the layout with another load of Chalk Spray splatters, as many of them had been hidden by embellishments and the chalk spray is so pretty you just have to show it off!

Easy Christmas Tree Layout with Prima Christmas in the Country

Hello! Grace here with another Christmassy scrapbook layout. I’ve seen so many layouts out there on YouTube and Instagram that have a Christmas tree shape as the main element on their page, but it’s usually a cut file – which, personally, I can’t always be bothered to do that, and also, not everyone has access to an electronic cutting machine. So, I wanted to create something with that shape but that was also really, really easy to make.

So I used the ‘Most Wonderful Time of the Year’ paper from Prima ‘Christmas in the Country’, and cut it into five strips. I then cut those strips into five different lengths to make the basic pyramid style tree shape.

I went round the edges of all the strips with Distress Oxide in Candied Apple, and after sticking them down in overlapping layers, went around the whole shape with my sewing machine. But before that, I added a light bit of gold stencilling and some gold splatters to the background so they’d poke out from behind the shape.

After backing my photos with woodgrain patterned, and then glitter card, and adhering them with foam so they’d stand out, very little embellishing was needed.

I simply added a few Prima flowers, ephemera piece, and a Hobbilicious wooden star at the top of the tree.

Lastly I added some Prima Say it in Crystals, and some Nuvo Drops, and the layout was complete! If you’d like to see the full process you can watch the video here.

Prima Christmas in the Country Layout

Hello, Grace here. I’m here with my first project with my December kit, using mostly the Prima Christmas in the Country collection.

This layout was a really quick one to put together, thanks to beautiful embellishments available in store such as the Prima flowers and hobbilicious chipboard.

I painted the chipboard banner and stars with Fabrika Decoru Antique Gold paint. While they were drying I backed my photo, adding Distress Oxide in Aged Mahogany around the edges, and added splatters of Antique Linen and gold.

I added flowers, puffy stickers, and Christmassy sentiments and stickers around the photo, and finished with some journaling in the bottom right corner, and some Honey Gold Nuvo Drops.

Snowy Wintery Layout – Grace

I’m here this week with my last project with my November kit. I created this very wintery and snowy layout featuring my cat in the snow.

Using AB Studio Secret Wood, I chose this snowy paper, but added a light layer of white gesso over a large area in the middle so the pattern would be toned down for where I added my photo and embellishments.

I added stencilling with Prima Paper Paste and an AB Studio Stencil, then snowflake stencilling with embellishment mousse. Then I added splatters of watered down gesso, and watered down Fabrika Decoru Metallic Silver Paint.

I used lots of ripped pieces of patterned paper, and a scrap of tulle to back my photo, going round the edges of everything with Distress Oxide in Tumbled Glass. The embellishments are a mix of fussy cut flowers from the AB paper pack, painted with silver watercolour, and some snowflake ephemera from my stash. The words are from the Time Holtz Christmas Clippings.

I finished with adhesive pearls and Nuvo drops in three silver/white colours, then added my title of ‘nope’ (because that is what it looks like my cat is saying to the snow!). The alphas I used were quite a strong blue and weren’t quite right for the layout, so I stippled a light layer of white gesso over them to tone the colour down and also add a snowy effect.

Frosty Fox Layout with AB Secret Wood – Grace

This week I’ve made a frosty wintery layout with AB Studio Secret Wood.

We have twin foxes (this year’s babies) who come into our garden, and I have a few pictures of them I’ve been meaning to scrap – as soon as I saw the fussy-cutable fox elements in this paper pack I knew it was my chance!

I added stencilling with an AB studio stencil and Prima Paper Texture paste, plus some snowflake stencils from my stash and glitter and glass bead pastes. Then to add some of my own colour to the background, I watered down some Distress Oxide ink in tumbled glass and splattered over the layout with a paintbrush, then also added Distress Oxide Spray in Mermaid Lagoon, Fabrika Decoru Chalk Spray in Pink, and some watered down gesso.

The embellishments are either fussy cut from the paper pack, or from flower bundles from the store. I also used 3D Gloss Gel to add Prima Glass beads between the embellishments, then lightly dabbed Fabrika Decoru Silver Metallic paint on those and on some of the other embellishments for a frosty effect.
